Bennett, CO, Dye Study

"Actual operating experience and / or pilot test work: Since the Phase II improvements including the SolarBee installation at the Town of Bennett WWTF, the effluent quality has improved dramatically. BOD and TSS test results for the last two months have been below 10 mg/l. The dye testing results in an impressive increase in dye coverage and depth penetration and also show a dramatic increase in dissolved oxygen throughout the pond. Most notable comparison of results was the time it took to achieve full dye coverage with the SolarBee operating was less than half of the time with just the three 5 Hp aerators operating.  The SolarBee has been shown to more than double the mixing capacity in the Bennett pond, and therefore would be equivalent to at least a 15 Hp mixer. See Appendix 3 for Dye Test results at the Bennett facility. Please note that both dye tests showed some short circuiting due to the incorrect orientation of one of the aerators. This is being corrected in the field. Actual operating experience of other similar SolarBee installations is summarized in Table 2 in Appendix 4, and several engineering reports and case studies have been attached for your review."
