St. Henry, OH

The treatment plant at St. Henry, Ohio was deep in "fowl" water. With a population of 2,700 - and a huge increase in turkey processing – the town’s treatment system became hydraulically undersized. There was also a big odor problem. The town considered a new diffuser blower system and surface aerators. But all that capital equipment would have cost an additional $100,000 – along with $49,000 more in electricity per year. "We were determined to solve our problems without that enormous capital cost and a steep increase in electrical expense," said Stan Sutter. St. Henry found their solution when they discovered SolarBee® solar-powered circulators. Seven SolarBees were deployed in a newly configured lagoon system. The results are spectacular. SolarBee’s gentle laminar flow mixes, aerates and creates a rich oxygenated odor cap, 24/7. And solar-powered circulators work virtually free. Meanwhile, the existing aerators run 60% less, so St. Henry actually reduced their electric bill by $20,000 a year. And, of course, they saved over $100,000 in capital costs. The bad odors? "Since SolarBee," Stan Sutter says, "we haven’t had one complaint." Enormous savings. Total treatment compliance. Consistent odor control. That’s St. Henry’s story.
